Álvaro Tourón

I'm Álvaro, an aspiring Spanish game professional based in Spain and open to relocation, targeting Junior Producer and QA roles in the games industry. I have a Master's in Game Design, some hands-on QA experience, and experience managing teams and helping building operational processes across esports and professional environments.

It started with design. During my Master's at Complutense I led Meteor Squad. What I enjoyed most wasn't designing mechanics, it was making sure the team had what it needed to build them. That's where I felt most useful.

From there I moved into esports coaching and management — years of practice schedules, performance reviews, cross-team coordination, and high-pressure decisions with incomplete information. It looked like a detour. It wasn't — it was where I became a producer without the title.

Then I joined Conectapisos as Assistant Project Manager, where I applied everything I'd built self-taught into a real professional environment — helping implement tools, redesigning workflows, and building systems that scaled the team's operational capacity from 4 to 15 people.

Now I'm moving into the games industry. Production or QA — both draw on the same thing: structure, rigour, and caring about how things work. Same passion. Same drive to keep growing.

Because it's the role that sits at the intersection of everything I'm good at — organising, communicating, problem-solving, and keeping people focused on what matters. And because I want my work to mean something beyond delivery. I have nephews who love games; the idea of them one day playing something I helped make is not a small thing to me.

QA appeals to me for the same reason production does: it rewards being methodical and genuinely curious. I naturally notice what's broken before it's pointed out — in games, in software, in processes. Combined with a documentation-first approach I developed through years of coaching and project management, it's not a career alternative. It's a different expression of the same instincts.

Completing my CAPM certification (PMI), applying to studios where production culture and craft actually matter — and QA roles where rigour and attention to detail are valued — wherever they are, and building this portfolio as a living document of where I am and where I'm going. I'm not waiting to have the perfect background — I'm building it now.
